Earth Day Events

EARTH DAY all MONTH
Celebrating Earth Day’s 50th year Anniversary
Mission and goal: Action , Art , Education + Uplifting our Community and the Environment through Celebration!



April 4th
Earth Day Fair for Orcas Island School Students K-12. Workshops on art, music, sewing wish banners, composting, and other environmental topics to be announced and student field trips to theExchange/Orcas Recycling Services, Kathy Morris farm and even a local beach walk rescuing beach plastic to use in a recycled beach trash art project. Also, plantings of several trees and plants at the school grounds in honor of Earth Day. 8:30am to noon. This will count as a students snow make up day.


April 18th
Great Islands Clean Up 10am at The Village Greens. All community members are invited and encouraged to come participate. We’ll have all the supplies you need and assign a good location from the map for you.


April 22nd
Earth Day Parade from the School to Village Greens for a celebration at the Greens on the stage 1-2pm. All community members are invited to join in the parade . We will have couple local guest speakers, a song performance with Irthlingz and the youth Earth Choir ended with a special 50th year Anniversary Earth Day tree dedication.


April 22nd
At 6pm at the Orcas Center the new President of Orcas Recycling Services, James Duffield will open the evening with a few words about ORS. Next will be a very special guest presenter, Heather Trimm of Zero Waste Washington followed by a fun and funky Trashion Fashion show hosted by the amazing Grace McCune. Revififys Burk and Josie will play some sweet Earth Day music for us followed by a heartfelt and grounding performance by the Sea Stars - Kurt Baumann & Katie Gray.
